New stories appear as they're geolocated, so the globe is always a live pulse of what's happening right now — and pins fade out as they age past 24 hours to keep the view focused on the present moment.

Instead of just surfacing news stories, the search bar now knows when you want to talk. Ask a question, request analysis, or dig deeper into a topic — and CHRONO will switch into conversational mode automatically, no button to press.
Just type naturally in the search bar at the bottom of the screen. Queries like "What's happening with AI regulation?" or "Explain the situation in the Middle East" will trigger chat mode. Topic-based searches like "Tesla" or "climate summit" will still surface news on the timeline as always.
Once in chat mode, the conversation is continuous — CHRONO remembers what you said earlier in the session. Tap End chat to return to the timeline at any time.
Your personal timeline data is only accessible to you. CHRONO verifies your identity server-side before fetching any personal content — no cross-user data is ever exposed. Rate limiting and content safety filters are active on every session.
CHRONO now covers two new categories: Cryptocurrency and Gaming.
From Bitcoin and Ethereum market moves to DeFi developments and regulatory news, the Cryptocurrency category keeps you on top of the fast-moving digital assets world. The Gaming category brings you the latest from AAA releases, esports, industry deals, and the culture shaping modern play.

We've been quietly improving two of the most visible parts of your Chrono experience: story thumbnails and source links.
Deep Search results now consistently display rich, relevant thumbnail images — so every story you explore feels more complete and visually grounded, whether you're browsing a location, a topic, or a breaking event.
Across all timelines, we've also improved how story images are sourced. You'll notice more accurate, high-quality visuals that better represent the actual story — and fewer placeholders or mismatched images.
CHRONO now opens with a cinematic intro.
On mobile, the timeline loads mid-scroll — deep in history — then sweeps forward to the present with a smooth, accelerating animation. The CHRONO wordmark fades in during the pause, then lifts away as the scroll begins, giving way to the live timeline.
The effect is intentional: you feel the passage of time before you start reading it. It sets the tone for what CHRONO is — a living, moving record of the world.
The AI Narrator now lets you control playback speed on the fly.
While a story is being read aloud, a speed pill appears next to the narrator button. Tap it to cycle through seven speeds — from a relaxed 0.5× all the way up to 2.0× — and the change takes effect instantly without interrupting playback.
Your preferred speed is saved to your account, so every story you listen to from that point on starts at the pace you like. No settings menus, no friction — just tap and go.

Each shared story generates a unique link with rich social media previews, ensuring your audience sees the headline and image right in their feed. Perfect for discussing breaking news, highlighting trending topics, or sharing insights with friends and colleagues.

CHRONO now surfaces Linked Stories — a curated thread of directly connected news nodes that share the same unfolding event, key figures, or developing situation. Open any story and scroll down to trace how it evolved over time.
Linked Stories are ranked by an AI editor that reads the headlines and summaries, then selects only the nodes that are genuinely part of the same thread — not just the same broad topic. Sort the thread newest-first or oldest-first with a single tap, and click any entry to navigate directly into that story with a smooth transition.

You can now filter the timeline by news category. Tap the layers icon in the top-right corner to narrow stories down to World, Politics, Business, Tech, Science, Health, Environment, Sports, Entertainment, or Other.
The icon stays dimmed when no filter is active and lights up when a category is selected — making it easy to see at a glance whether you're browsing the full feed or a focused view.
Chrono now detects video content in news nodes. When a source article contains a YouTube embed, Vimeo clip, or direct video file, a play indicator appears on the thumbnail — tap once to watch inline.
Videos are matched against the node's headline to keep results relevant. Still in beta — coverage and accuracy will improve over time.

We squashed a bug affecting users opening Chrono from third-party mobile browsers like Safari and Chrome — the news node modal close button was sometimes unresponsive, requiring a page refresh to recover. The close button now reliably responds to touch on all mobile browsers and in-app webviews. We also made it sticky, so it stays visible as you scroll through longer stories — no more hunting for the X.
Chrono now reads your device's dark/light mode preference on first load and matches it automatically — no setup required.
If you'd prefer something different, the theme toggle still lets you switch at any time. Your choice is remembered across visits.
The timeline axis now persists visually during loading states, and a new animated spotlight gradient sweeps across the search bar — a subtle motion that makes the interface feel alive without distracting from the content.
